      <image:title>PREGNANCY YOGA</image:title>
      <image:caption>New pregnancy yoga class starting Friday 27th Feb, Camrose Community Centre, 6:30-7:45pm In both my role as a midwife and yoga teacher, my goal is to help empower and support women along their journey to motherhood. My classes are uniquely created using my midwifery knowledge of pregnancy, labour &amp; birth, and my pregnancy yoga training, to help you have a comfortable and healthy pregnancy and prepare for birth. Pregnancy yoga classes are open to complete beginners to yoga, are suitable from 12 weeks, up until labour begins. Enjoying yoga while your pregnancy progresses, is a wonderful way of taking time for yourself and your baby. Pregnancy yoga helps you stay fit and active during pregnancy, and is individually tailored to avoid and improve pregnancy conditions such as pelvic pain, sciatica or back ache. Practising yoga in your pregnancy can help to keep your body and joints more mobile, and aids optimal positioning of your baby for birth. Breathing techniques, visualisations &amp; guided relaxations are weaved into my classes, to help you learn coping strategies for birth, improve sleep, and reduce stress &amp; anxiety. “Harriet’s pregnancy yoga was the best thing I did for myself during my pregnancy. It helped me to relax, connect with my baby, and prepare for birth all in such a supportive and friendly (and sometimes very funny) environment. My classes are relaxed, and you are welcome to chat and share advice and stories with each other, there is such knowledge to be found when women come together. Many mothers who have met at my classes have kept in touch with me &amp; each other, and have regular meet ups, and have come back to my class with their next pregnancy.       <image:title>ABOUT - My story.</image:title>
      <image:caption>I first began practising yoga about 15 years ago, and soon discovered it was a way to become more present, connect to my inner self and stay active. More recently I began to explore styles of yoga that felt really nurturing and relaxing, including meditation and restorative yoga, in order to provide balance to my exciting but challenging role as a midwife, and more recently as a mother. I realised I wanted to integrate my passion for empowering and supporting women throughout pregnancy &amp; birth, with the wonderful benefits I have discovered through yoga. This led me to complete a Pregnancy &amp; Postnatal yoga teacher training with Yoga Mama in 2014. I have absolutely loved sharing yoga, relaxation techniques and birth preparation with mothers since. I combine my knowledge as a midwife with my yoga and hypnobirthing training, to support, prepare, empower and bring calm to those on their pregnancy and motherhood journey. I am privileged support the magic of birth often, so I witness firsthand how useful active birth, yoga and hypnobirthing are during the labour and birth process. I am passionate about empowering you to feel at the centre of your pregnancy and birth journey, and I love sharing my tools and knowledge to help you on this journey. However your baby enters the world, I want you to feel proud, in control and supported.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Undertaking 22 hour restorative yoga training with Yoga For You was a wonderful new adventure! The course was incredible, freeing, relaxing and so interesting. I was so intrigued to learn the amazing benefits &amp; power that lies in the simple act of slowing down, and I have loved sharing this powerful practice of stillness with others since. Soon after beginning to teach restorative yoga, I jumped at the chance to take a further course with Yoga For You, and took a 30 hour Meditation Teacher Training, which was the perfect addition to my existing pregnancy &amp; restorative teaching. I have found many benefits to meditating regularly, and it has helped me develop my teaching greatly. At the end of 2022 I was lucky enough to conceive our long awaited daughter, Juno. My journey through infertility struggles and IVF treatment showed the importance of my meditation and yoga practice for my mental and physical wellbeing. Pregnancy and birth was an incredible adventure, and also a very surreal experience finally being the mamma, not midwife. Juno was born in our home in September 2023, and this was the greatest day of my life. Experiencing an empowered, supported and powerful birth experience first-hand has fuelled my passion for supporting families throughout their pregnancy and birth journey even more. My goal is to help you step away from the chaos and busyness of your life, and to give you the breathing space to relax, find inner calm, deal with any issues you may be experiencing such as anxiety or insomnia, and guide you to restoring balance.       <image:title>MEDITATION - “Quiet the mind, and the soul will speak” ~ Buddha</image:title>
      <image:caption>Meditation is simply single pointed concentration on an object or concept, but hidden in this practice of stillness are huge benefits for body and mind. I’ve always been curious to explore meditiation, and after an incredible 7 month trip to various countries where meditation is entwined deeply in culture, I became even more fascinated and determined to start my own practice. There are so many proven benefits to meditation, some being improved concentration and clarity, decreased anxiety, lower blood pressure, increased grey matter in the brain, and slower aging. Studies have shown that after only 8 weeks of daily meditation, physical changes in our brains are seen, pretty cool hey! Exploring meditation led me to realise how many styles and forms there are, and I absolutely believe there is a style of meditation out there for us all. Having felt the benefits myself, I felt called to learn more. In 2020, I undertook a 30 hour meditation teacher training, and absolutely loved it. I have discovered so much more about meditation, and absolutely love sharing this powerful practice with others. I now write guided meditations for my pregnancy and restorative yoga classes, as well as creating personalised meditations and 1-2-1 sessions with clients. I believe everyone can benefit from meditation, in whichever form that suits them, so if you’re open minded and curious about how this benefit you, please get in touch.</image:caption>
